  • Founded in 1964, Community Blood Center (CBC) operates from its headquarters in downtown Dayton and its four branch collection sites in Springfield, Middletown, Hamilton and Richmond, Ind.
  • CBC serves the total blood needs of 26 local hospitals in 15 counties throughout the Miami (Ohio) and Whitewater (Indiana) Valleys.
  • CBC operates as a locally governed, not-for-profit organization, which does not receive federal, state nor regular United Way funding.
  • All CBC blood donors are volunteers-no monetary compensation to either donors or sponsoring groups is allowed.
  • By giving locally to CBC, blood donors are helping to insure that a 24-hour, reliable and continuous supply is available to area hospital patients.
  • CBC conducts at least 15 bloodmobiles each week at local high schools, colleges, churches, company and community sites.
  • CBC encourages community input through organization of local advisory groups.
  • CBC is a member of the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) and conducts bone marrow typing drives in support of the NMDP's bone marrow registry.
  • CBC operates an accredited reference laboratory.
  • CBC is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks and is a member of America's Blood Centers.
  • Community Tissue Services · Founded in Dayton in 1986, Community Tissue Services (CTS) is a full-service tissue bank that has grown into a national network with branches in Indianapolis, Texas, Oregon and California.
  • Currently, CTS distributes more than 87,000 tissue grafts annually, making it one of the five largest tissue banks in the United States.
  • CBC specialists collect, process and distribute life-enhancing allografts for surgery, including bone, skin, heart valves, veins and other soft tissue.
  • CTS is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
