What is the Gift of Life Donor (G.O.L.D.) program?
This is a program beginning January 2, 2008 to encourage blood donors like you to increase or maintain your donation frequency. Donors are encouraged to give at least four to five whole blood donations or eight to ten automated (apheresis) donations in 2008. You can complete a combination of both whole blood and automated (apheresis) donations to fulfill the requirement. All donations will need to be completed by, December 31, 2008.
Who is eligible?
All donors, both whole blood and automated (apheresis) are eligible. Donations will be counted at ALL fixed sites and ALL blood drives.
How does this work?
We are encouraging you the donor to give the gift of life throughout the year. You will be asked at time of registration to join the club. You will then complete a membership card with the pertinent information. The bottom portion of the card will be given back to the registrar and you will keep the top portion which has the program guidelines and point system. Each time you donate, please present your card and the registrar will enter the date and initial it.
When can you join?
Enrollment will be open from January 2nd to March 31st.
Why does the enrollment end March 31?
In order for a whole blood donor to complete five donations (with an average 9-10 weeks between each donation) and plan for the incentives needed for each donor, we had to limit the opportunity for enrollment.
What will the donor receive with this program?
After you register for at least four whole blood or automated (apheresis) donations (or a combination of both), you will be eligible to receive a GOLD Club free gift. Once you complete five whole blood or automated (apheresis) donations (or a combination of both), you will be eligible for a GRAND PRIZE drawing. Also, during any promotion, you will still be eligible to receive any other item we are offering.
What if you lose your G.O.L.D. card?
Don't worry, a report will be run at the end of the year. This report will look at all donors who have signed up and all the dates they presented to donate. Just ask for a new card the next time you come in to register and we can combine the information if necessary.
