Community Blood Center is committed to reaching out to young people to provide them information to make educated health choices. In our efforts to recruit future blood donors of tomorrow, we need to teach them about the importance of blood donation today. By encouraging children to make positive health choices early, they will be more likely to establish positive health patterns as adults. Including establishing a pattern of becoming volunteer blood donors.
My Blood, Your Blood (MBYB) is a multi-media science education package that will create a positive reaction to learning, and explain the blood donation process on a level that children can understand.
Sponsored by Americas Blood Center’s, the national organization of non-profit blood centers of which Community Blood Center is a member is proud to offer My Blood, Your Blood. Created by team of scientists, physicians, and educators, the goal is to teach student’s K-12 the importance and function of blood in a fun and interactive way.
The curriculum meets National Science Standards and has been endorsed by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the American Hospital Association and former U.S. Surgeon General.
The Low Prep time packet can be adapted into any classroom setting or environment. The program includes:
- My Blood, Your Blood videotape
- Illustrated color poster and 24-page learning guide
- Ready-to-use Worksheets and lesson plan
- Resource website located at www.mybloodyourblood.org
If we educate students about the importance of donating blood today, we can make sure it’s on the shelf tomorrow.
