DAYTON, OH — (Thursday, March 8, 2007) Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services™ (CBC/CTS) has named Edahn J. Isaak, MD, to the position of associate medical director.
Dr. Isaak comes to CBC/CTS from the Missouri/Illinois Region of the American Red Cross where he served as the Chief Medical Officer for the region and Medical Director of the National Testing Lab. He also directed the Charles Drew Blood Program, a protocol-based partnership among the American Red Cross and four academic hospitals. The program served 70 chronically transfused sickle cell anemia patients. Dr. Isaak was on the clinical faculty of the Department of Pathology at the University of Missouri and at Saint Louis University. He is board certified in transfusion medicine and blood banking as well as in anatomic and clinical pathology.
“Dr. Isaak has an extensive background in both blood banking and pathology which will serve patients well,” stated Judith E. Woll, MD, chief executive officer of CBC. “I am very pleased to welcome him to the area and to CBC/CTS.”
Dr. Isaak received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of South Florida. He trained initially for several years in New York City as a head and neck surgeon. While still in NYC, he trained as a Pathologist with subspecialty training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Then he spent two years on the Emory faculty in Atlanta, where he served as the Medical Director of the Transfusion Service at Grady Memorial. He holds medical licenses in New York, Georgia, Missouri, Illinois and Kansas.
