Diane Wilson Receives the American Association of Tissue Banks' Kenneth W. Sell Memorial Award

DAYTON, OH - Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS) is pleased to announce Diane Wilson, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Community Tissue Services, is the recipient of the American Association of Tissue Banks’ Kenneth W. Sell Memorial Award.

The American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) is a scientific, not-for-profit, peer group organization founded in 1976 to facilitate the provision of transplantable cells and tissues of uniform high quality in quantities sufficient to meet national needs.

This award is given annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the development of tissue banking standards, the inspection and accreditation of tissue banks, and/or the education and certification of tissue banking personnel to ensure the quality, safety and availability of cells and tissue for transplantation.

Ms. Wilson has a long history of outstanding service to the AATB in a number of major roles. As the present Chair of the Standards Committee, she is directing the next major revision of AATB’ Standards for Tissue Banking. She served on the Board of Governors as Member at Large and after a several year absence, was recently elected to the Board for another term. A previous chair of the Membership Committee, Ms. Wilson has also chaired the Tissue Bank Council and co-chaired the Council of Accredited Tissue Banks (CATB), with which she has been actively involved since its inception. She also served as a member of and as the Board’s liaison to the Accreditation Committee.

Ms. Wilson is a Registered Nurse. In addition, she is a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) and a past AATB Accreditation Inspector. She is also a member of several organizations including the Ohio Transplant Recovery Council, American Association of Operating Room Nurses, and National Association of Orthopedic Nurses. Ms. Wilson has worked at Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services since 1986. She became COO of Community Tissue Services in 1996.
